You coordinate hockey practice, find the missing permission form, remember whose turn it is to buy toilet paper, and discuss tomorrow’s schedule with military precision.
Sexy.
But somewhere along the way, you got really good at being partners, parents, and household co-managers... and stopped being lovers.

Intimacy coach, sex educator, mom and stepmom of three, and someone who has had to relearn this stuff more than once herself.

Through every crazy life season (like becoming a step mom, having babies, perimenopause, autoimmune disease) my husband and I have found our way back to the bedroom, and each other.

If you’re reading this quietly wondering whether your partner would feel relieved, excited, defensive, or completely freaked out if you sent it to them, you’re in very good company.
You still love each other, still a great team but when it comes to sex and intimacy, you keep getting caught in the same pattern.
One of you reaches out.
The other feels pressured.
Someone feels rejected.
Someone pulls away.
Eventually, it feels easier to avoid the whole thing than risk another awkward conversation that leaves you both feeling worse. Nobody is the problem here. Somewhere along the way, shitty sex ed and 80s movies taught us that good sex should just… happen.

You might assume that means something is wrong. It usually means you’ve entered a new season without the skills you need to navigate it together.
Intimacy is a skill.
Which is actually very good news. You can learn, practise, and adapt these skills as your relationship changes.
